Cleargreen are one of the hidden gems in the Manchester music scene and their latest single “Gone” proves that they should certainly be on your radar for 2019. The band, featuring Ali Staley (vocals/guitar), Liam McIver (vocals/bass), Josh Haworth (lead guitar) and Mike Wilcox (drums). The group have been through a few lineup changes through the past few years, but with the addition of Josh and Mike in 2018 the band look the best they have been.
Their latest track “Gone” is an indie rock tune reminiscent of bands like The Enemy or DMAs. The Song itself features a strong pulsating drum beat and bass line throughout. Complemented well with some meandering and melodic guitar riffs, which undercut lyrics of moving on from a past relationship in which you felt you didn’t belong. These thoughts are encapsulated in lines like “Do you ever feel like a circle in a square” or the leading line of the chorus. “Gone are the days you’ve taken from me.” Ideas that are bound to resonate with their audience and attract new listeners as well. All of this whilst being delivered in the raw and energetic style that Manchester bands seem so accustomed to.
2019 sets to be a big year for these boys, after sell out shows at Rebellion, a number of festival sets and a place on Fred Perrys “This Feeling - Big in 2019” list which has an accompanying show at Night & Day in Manchester where the band will be performing. With all this exposure they’re sure to be turning some heads this year.
